Michael Smith is an Assistant Professor and Director of the Communications Technology program at York College. Prof. Smith hosts a personal digital archive project blog on Commons titled It Cannot Be Trivial.
That’s David Newton, who was York’s Acting President at the time, with Sarah D’Alberti, who was Professor of Italian (she retired circa 1989). Newton had been in charge of implementing Open Admissions at CUNY, and later became Vice Chancellor for Faculty and Staff Relations, before moving to Long Island University (where they still give the David Newton Awards for Excellence in Teaching) as Executive Vice President.
